chicken cheesesteak recipe
Chicken cheesesteak recipe has a little trace of smokiness, a dash of sweet-savoury appetizing pleasure and heaps of flavours with a lot of cheese.
The colourful and flavorful ingredients are better for its most tempting look and taste. I have used caramelized onions, yellow and red bell pepper instead of green and some smooth provolone.
This gives many different textures and renders this super juicy and tasty sandwich!
Origin:
According to a 1987 exhibition catalogue issued by the Library Company of Philadelphia and the Pennsylvania Historical Society, the cheesesteak was created in the early 20th century “by mixing frizzled meat, onions, and cheese in a small loaf of bread.”
Chicken cheesesteak often called Chicken Philly with a bit twist to Philly cheesesteak. It’s easy to prepare and loaded with the most tempting flavour, and extremely cosy and comfortable to get bite after bite from!
This chicken cheesesteak recipe is so simple to cook and will be a favourite of your entire family!
Let’s move to the chicken cheesesteak recipe without any delay because I’m super excited about it.
Ingredients:
- 1 ½ pound skinless, boneless chicken breasts (3-4 larger breasts)
- Salt
- Avocado oil
- Black pepper
- ½ teaspoon ground onion
- ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 large thinly sliced red bell pepper
- 1 large thinly sliced yellow bell pepper
- 4 larger French rolls split in half lengthwise
- 1 thinly sliced white onion
- 1 small thinly sliced green bell pepper (optional)
- 4 slices provolone cheese
Directions:
- Relish the chicken with an avocado oil sprinkling, a pinch of salt and pepper, and the smoked paprika and ground onion.
- Put a skillet over medium heat, once the skillet got hot, place the chicken breast and let it cook for almost 8-10 minutes until the side got brownish colour. Now turn it and cook the other side until it gets cooked. Set it aside.
- Turn the heat under the same skillet to high, add in a little more oil, then add as much as required of a single layer in the sliced peppers and onions; sprinkle over a pinch of black pepper and leave untouched for about 3-4 minutes to create some caramelization; then stir and leave untouched again for a few minutes.
- Cook the bell pepper until they get soft, juicy and brown. Turn the heat off.
- Break the chicken breasts into strips very finely.
- Prepare a baking sheet with baking paper, then assemble the chicken cheesesteaks: place the lower half of the roll on the baking sheet, add equivalent portions of the sliced chicken, add caramelized peppers and onions over it, then place a provolone slice on top.
- Spot them under the boiler for around 2-3 minutes, or until the provolone is softened and melted; expel from the stove, spread with the top portion of the roll and serve hot with potato chips or fries!
Note:
- Chicken thighs can be substituted for the chicken breast.
- You might get more sandwiches than four, depending on the size of your rolls.
- Provolone is one of the popular steak sandwich cheeses so you can use mozzarella or Monterey Jack as well. Hoagie rolls are also known as hero rolls or sub rolls.
